On 27 August 2019, I attended my very first Women Of Courage Asia monthly empowerment meeting. It was long overdue because Lilian had invited me way back in June.

She said to me: “Bring your book, let’s do a book exchange!”

I remembered the theme of that night was Passion to Profit and Purpose.

It is incredible how a year later, I am serving as a community leader with Women of Courage Asia and a second chair in the communications team.

Looking back, a seed was definitely planted at my very first meeting in 2019; the seed of living for a higher purpose – serving others.

At tonight’s meeting, I saw two women made their living in activating their passion:

Julia shared her expertise in content writing; I never thought there are 10 ways to write about 1 thing. She gave tremendous values and made me rethink my content creation strategy. I have newfound respect for her as a friend and as an entrepreneur.

Katherine shared her story courageously. Her message of being under someone’s thumb and walking out from a toxic environment resonated with many, including me. Her story is a testament that we may have different backgrounds and upbringing but we can find common grounds in experiences as women.

Not forgetting the unsung heroines of the evening! The effort of the entire team of Women of Courage Asia leaders and volunteers were a living testimony of the quote by Annie Lennox:

“When women get together as a group, it is immensely powerful”
